Error description
After restoring a VOB from a "vob_snapshot" backup there is a reasonable likelihood of mismatch between the VOB database and container pools. There are also other reasons why "missing source containers" occur. If a user has checked out a file before its source container went missing, then an attempt to checkin the file after its source container went missing can give the error message: M:\djr_default\UTF>cleartool ci -nc foo.txt cleartool: Error: Unable to open file "\\VOBSERVERh\ccstg_c\VOBs\SRC.vbs\c\cdft\18\38\5f0eb431e573475c ac2c0fd94e713695": No such file or directory. cleartool: Error: Unable to check in "foo.txt". The error message refers to the CLEARTEXT container of the "checked-out-from" version. The cleartext container does exist. IT is the SOURCE container that should be mentioned in the error message. This misdirection is most unhelpful in diagnosing the problem.
Local fix
Somehow discover it is the source container that is missing, in order to realize that "cleartool checkvob -fix" is needed.
