Question & Answer
Question
What is the "ratl_priv_mask" field in the Users record for IBM Rational ClearQuest and what do the values mean?
Answer
The ratl_priv_mask field in the Users record type contains system controlled values that determine which ClearQuest privileges the user is granted. It is a bit mask field, with each bit representing one privilege.
The following table shows the bit mask value in hexadecimal format for each entry. There are 32 possible combinations of those bits.
User Privilege Type | Privilege abbreviation | Value in Hexadecimal Format |
DYNAMIC_LIST_ADMIN | DLA | 0x0001 |
PUBLIC_FOLDER_ADMIN | PFA | 0x0002 |
SECURITY_ADMIN | SA | 0x0004 |
RAW_SQL_WRITER | SE | 0x0008 |
ALL_USERS_VISIBLE | ALL | 0x0010 |
Each user in the database can have one or more of these base privileges:
- Super User
- Schema Developer
- User Administrator
The value in the ratl_priv_mask field defines what additional privileges are granted to the user. This value exists whether the user is active or inactive.
