Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of IBM IMS Database Solution Pack V2.1 * * IMS HALDB Toolkit. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Backward-fit of IMS HALDB Toolkit V1.1 * * APARs PI93861 and PI95978. * * 1. BF of PI93861 * * Data and index component names of a * * shadow data set are replaced with * * strange characters on the 2nd run of * * REORGIND. * * 2. BF of PI95978 * * ABEND0C1 IHCYDB10, near offset x'47C2' * * when HTK is run under an unsupported * * version of IMS. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. * **************************************************************** 1. BF of PI93861 When Reorganizing a PSINDEX(REORGIND) function alters a cluster component of a shadow dataset, the function does NOT alter its data and index components at the same time. So after the 1st run of REORGIND, data and index components name of a shadow dataset remain. After that, on the 2nd run of REORGIND, data and index component names of a shadow data set are replaced with strange characters because the correct data and index components name of a shadow dataset are already used. Deleting a single partition(REORGIND DROP) function also occurs the same issue. In addition, the following fix has been added in this APAR: - PTF level is shown in IHC01000I for REORGIND and REORGIND DROP functions. 2. BF of PI95978 The IMS version check process in HALDB Toolkit is not correct. HALDB Toolkit did not detect the unsupported version of IMS and tried to proceed forward with it's next step, which in turn caused the ABENDS0C1.
Problem conclusion
1. BF of PI93861 This APAR modifies the program so that REORGIND and REORGIND DROP functions alter the data and index components when the functions alter a cluster component of a shadow dataset. The data and index component names are correct after running the functions. 2. BF of PI95978 This APAR modifies the program so that the IMS version check process detects and properly reports back the unsupported version of IMS. ======================== = DOCUMENTATION CHANGE = ======================== IBM IMS Database Solution Pack for z/OS Version 2 Release 1 IMS High Availability Large Database Toolkit for z/OS User's Guide (SC19-4102-02) ---------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 29.
