Error description
In IBM Developer for z Systems V14.0.0.5, when copying a file from one LPAR and pasting to another, if there are non-roundtrippable characters in the file, the target file may become corrupted, without any warning to the user Steps to Reproduce: - connect to two LPARs, LPAR1 and LPAR2 - create a member on a PDS in LPAR1, such that it contains binary characters like x15, x25 which are not round-trippable - set the local code page property for MVS files on LPAR1 as Cp1252 - select the file on LPAR1, right-click and Copy - paste the file on LPAR2, somewhere on MVS files - inspect the copied file. The copied file will have the characters changed to something else, such as x3F
Local fix
The problem can be avoided if the local code page is UTF-8
Problem summary
The user is not prompted if curruption occurs when copying a member from on system to another.
Problem conclusion
If a user opens a member to edit and the local file gets corrupted due to an encoding mapping error, then the user is prompted. Even though the same download occurs when doing a cross-system transfer, there is no message indicating to the user that corruption occurred.
Temporary fix
