Error description
WebSphere Application Server is getting a new JCC Connection and then invoking getJccSpecialRegisters(), which triggers the start of a global transaction. The JCC trace shows that the runtime subsequently attempted to issue a local Connection.commit(), which is invalid when running in a gloabal transaction. Here is the traceback from the attempted commit: com.ibm.db2.jcc.a.SqlException: ■jcc■10115■10306■3.53.81 Invalid operation: An invalid COMMIT or ROLLBACK has been called in an XA environment during a Global Transaction. Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V7.0 using IBM DB2 Driver for JDBC * * and SQLJ version 3.53.81 and higher. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Invoking getJccSpecialRegisters() * * allocating connection triggers the * * start of a global transaction. * * * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When getJccSpecialRegisters() is invoked while allocating a new JCC connection, a global transaction is started by the driver. A subsequent invocation of local Connection.commit() causes the following exception: BBOO0220E: J2CA0026E: Method addSync caught javax.transaction.SystemException: ATRBEG Failed, RC = 1841 at com.ibm.ws390.tx.NativeGlobalTransactionContext.create(NativeGlo balTransactionContext.java:207) at com.ibm.ws.tx.jta.TransactionImpl.checkIfNativeTransactional(Tra nsactionImpl.java:1591) at com.ibm.ws.tx.jta.TranManagerSet.registerSynchronization(TranMan agerSet.java:669) at com.ibm.ejs.j2c.RRSGlobalTransactionWrapper.addSync(RRSGlobalTra nsactionWrapper.java:227) at com.ibm.ejs.j2c.ConnectionManager.initializeForUOW(ConnectionMan ager.java:1380) at com.ibm.ejs.j2c.ConnectionManager.involveMCInTran(ConnectionMana ger.java:1092) at com.ibm.ejs.j2c.ConnectionManager.allocateConnection(ConnectionM anager.java:611) at com.ibm.ws.rsadapter.cci.WSRdbConnectionFactoryImpl.getConnectio n(WSRdbConnectionFactoryImpl.java:525)
Problem conclusion
Global RRS transaction is suspended, so that we can perform initialization commands on the new connection, and then resuming the transaction afterwards. APAR PK85855 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.5 of WebSphere Application Server V7.0. Please refer to URL: //www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=404&uid=swg27006970 for Fix Pack availability.
