Error description
When TCP/IP was recycled, the administrative ports did not rebind, which causes certain functions not to work.
Local fix
Restart the Servers.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All IBM WebSphere Application Server * * V7.0 users on z/OS. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The SOAP connector server does not * * tolerate TCP/IP recycle on z/OS. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The SOAP connector server uses Java ServerSocket to receive client requests. When TCP/IP is stopped, the ServerSocket instance is no longer bound. After TCP/IP is restarted, the ServerSocket cannot automatically rebind. The current code repeatedly calls accept() on the ServerSocket instance, which may cause the message EDC5122I INPUT/OUTPUT ERROR to be displayed.
Problem conclusion
The code has been modified such that once the condition represented by "EDC5122I" is detected, a sequence of attempts to re-initialize the SOAP connector's underlying HttpTransport is started, which is repeated every 30 secs until TCP/IP restarts. This will result in a new ServerSocket being created. The newly created ServerSocket will successfully bind. The SOAP connector server will then accept incoming requests as it did before TCP/IP was stopped. APAR PK73912 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.3 of WebSphere Application Server V7.0 for z/OS.
