Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server version * * 6.1 users with short virtual host aliases. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: On systems with both *:port and * * hostname:port virtual host aliases * * defined, and the hostname is shorter * * than 4 characters, some applications * * fail to start. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** During application startup, if the virtual host has both a * and a very short hostname alias, the webcontainer, after loading a first application which uses the virtual host aliases, will fail to load subsequent apps which use same the same aliases. This will lead to error messages such as: Failed to load webapp: Context root /MyApp/* mapping unable to be bound. For example by default the default_host has an alias of *:9080. If a second alias is then added for try:9080, a first app loaded will bind to *:9080 and try:9080, but subsequent applications will be bound to * twice leading to the error.
Problem conclusion
Modified code so that host alias are handled correctly. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fixpack 6.1.0.19. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for delivery information: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg27004980
