Error description
LDAP server validation fails during security domain creation in WebSphere Application Server V7.0 In WebSphere Application Server V7.0, while creating a security domain configuration with LDAP server, the validation fails with the following error. SECJ7724E: Error in the user registry configuration unable to verify access to the user registry. In the background, the Application Server issues a wild charactered LDAP search that can fail at times. This APAR will Avoid wild charactered LDAP search during Security domain configuration with LDAP server in V7.0.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application Server **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: During WebSphere Security Domain * * configuration, some large LDAP user * * registries will encounter a * * configuration error. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When attempting to configure a WebSphere Security Domain to use an LDAP user registry, WebSphere Application Server tries to verify at least one user exists in the specified registry. If no user exists the configuration is considered invalid. This validation performs an LDAP search looking for a user matching the wildcard "*". Some large LDAP trees may encounter a timeout performing this search, which will result in a configuration error.
Problem conclusion
Introduced custom security property "com.ibm.websphere.security.SecConfigTaskHelper.isGoodServerId.d isableWildcardSearch", default value is false. When this property is set to true, the validation step for configuring an LDAP user registry in WebSphere Security Domain skips the validation that a user exists in the registry. This does not impact the configuration of LDAP for the global security settings. Only enable this property if you are experiencing configuration issues for the LDAP user registry in a WebSphere Security Domain. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 7.0.0.13.
