Closed as program error.
Error description
When a WebSphere MQ Link receiver is active, it receives batches of messages from a queue manager and sends them to destinations in the Service Integration Bus. After each batch, the WebSphere MQ link receiver must commit the messages and acknowledge them to the queue manager. In rare cases, the WebSphere MQ Link receiver may shut down after successfully acknowledging a batch of messages. In the WebSphere Application Server SystemOut.log file there is no indication of an error, just message CWSIC3232I ("WebSphere MQ link ■X ended normally.") The error logs on the queue manager will show more serious messages like AMQ9206 ("Error sending data to host ■X", possibly including a TCP/IP error code like EPIPE) and AMQ9999 ("Channel program ended abnormally"). This problem does not affect WebSphere MQ Links in WebSphere Application Server V7.0.
Local fix
If the WebSphere MQ sender channel is configured to retry, it should restart successfully and continue sending messages.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the default messaging provider * * for IBM WebSphere Application Server v6.1 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: WebSphere MQ Link Receiver shuts down * * after successfully sending a * * batch of messages. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The MQ Link way shut down after it has successfully acknowledged a batch of messages. This was due to a timing issue where the state of the receiver was examined at the same time that new work arrived. No error message is seen in the log and the MQ Link is seen to shutdown normally.
Problem conclusion
This APAR solves to problem, and makes sure the MQ Link is not shutdown unless told too. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 6.1.0.33.
