Use IBM® Packaging Utility to copy packages to a new repository and delete packages from repositories when the packages are no longer needed.
This release can be used for an initial installation of Packaging Utility or to update a current installation of one of these versions of Packaging Utility: 1.5.x, 1.4.x, 1.3.x, 1.2.x, and 1.1.x.
These sections describe the contents of Packaging Utility, version 1.5.2.

Cumulative updates
This version includes all fixes, enhancements, and new features from the following versions: 1.5.x, 1.4.x, 1.3.x, 1.2.x, and 1.1.x.

Prerequisites
You must have Internet access to update software or to download the packages listed below on this page.
Before you can install the fix pack, you must have IBM Installation Manager installed. For more information, see the installation instructions below.

Installation Instructions
Use Installation Manager to install and update Packaging Utility. If Installation Manager is installed, you can use the Packaging Utility repository on www.ibm.com to install or update Packaging Utility without downloading files. If Installation Manager is not installed, you must download the Packaging Utility files. Installation Manager is included in the Packaging Utility download packages.
The installer package for Packaging Utility 1.5.2 is pu.offering.disk.platform_1.5.2.zip
where platform indicates the operating system. The installer package contains files for only one platform. Using this package, you can install Packaging Utility and Installation Manager by running the install command. You can also add this package as a repository in Installation Manager and use the package to update Packaging Utility.
The fix pack package for Packaging Utility 1.5.2 is pu.update_1.5.2.zip
. The fix pack contains files for all supported platforms. You can add this fix pack as a repository to update Packaging Utility. You cannot install Packaging Utility or Installation Manager with this fix pack.
For z/OS, use the pu.repository.zos_1.5.2.zip
package to install or update Packaging Utility with Installation Manager. This package contains files only for z/OS.

Install or update Packaging Utility without downloading files
You must have Internet access and Installation Manager must be installed to install or update Packaging Utility without downloading files. The Packaging Utility repository located on www.ibm.com contains the latest version of Packaging Utility.
You must have an IBM user name and password to access the repository. To register for these credentials, go to: http://www.ibm.com/account/profile.
A. Use the graphical user interface (GUI) for Installation Manager to install Packaging Utility
- 1. Start Installation Manager
2. Add the repository location for Packaging Utility:
- a. In Installation Manager, click File > Preferences > Repositories.
b. Click Add Repository.
c. Enter the repository: http://www.ibm.com/software/repositorymanager/com.ibm.cic.packagingUtility
d. Enter your IBM user name and password
B. Use the command line to install Packaging Utility
- 1. Open a command-line utility.
2. Open the
tools
subdirectory in the Installation Manager eclipse
directory.3. To access the Packaging Utility repository located on www.ibm.com, save your IBM user name and password to a keyring file:
imutilsc saveCredential -url http://www.ibm.com/software/repositorymanager/com.ibm.cic.packagingUtility/repository.config -userName user_name -userPassword password -keyring keyring_file.keyring
where user_name is your IBM user name, password is your IBM password, and keyring_file.keyring is the keyring file where the credentials are saved.
4. Run the command to install or update Packaging Utility:
imcl install com.ibm.cic.packagingUtility -repositories http://www.ibm.com/software/repositorymanager/com.ibm.cic.packagingUtility -keyring keyring_file.keyring -acceptLicense
- where keyring_file.keyring is the keyring file where the credentials are saved.
Install or update Packaging Utility by using the downloaded files
A. Download the installation files for Packaging Utility
- 1. Download the files:
- a. If Installation Manager is not installed, download
pu.offering.disk.platform_1.5.2.zip
. The platform variable indicates the operating system. The downloaded files include installation files for Installation Manager.b. If Installation Manager is installed:
- i. To install Packaging Utility, download:
- All platforms:
pu.offering.disk.platform_1.5.2.zip
z/OS:
pu.repository.zos_1.5.2.zip
This package contains files only for z/OS.
- All platforms:
pu.update_1.5.2.zip
z/OS:
pu.repository.zos_1.5.2.zip
This package contains files only for z/OS.
3. Choose to install using the GUI or the command line.
B. Use the GUI to install Packaging Utility
1. If Installation Manager is not installed:
- a. Open a command-line utility and switch to the
InstallerImage_platform
subdirectory that is located in the directory that contains the extracted files.b. Run the command:
- Windows:
install.exe
Linux and UNIX:
./install
- 2. If Installation Manager is installed:
- a. In Installation Manager, add the repository location for the installer package:
ii. Click Add Repository.
iii Browse to or enter the file path to the disktag.inf file or the
repository.config
file. One of these files is located in the directory where you extracted the compressed files.
C. Use the command line to install Packaging Utility
- 1. If Installation Manager is not installed:
- a. Open a command-line utility and switch to the
InstallerImage_platform
subdirectory that is located in the directory that contains the extracted files.b. Run the command:
- Windows:
installc.exe -acceptLicense
Linux, UNIX, and z/OS:
./installc -acceptLicense
- a. Open a command-line utility.
b. Open the
tools
subdirectory in the Installation Manager eclipse
directory.c. Run the command:
imcl install com.ibm.cic.packagingUtility -repositories source_repository -acceptLicense
