Abstract
Inter-bus links created between V6.0 and V7.0 buses with dots in their names fail to start with CWSIP0041E errors.
Download Description
PK91232 resolves the following problem:
ERROR DESCRIPTION:
When an inter-bus link, or a WebSphere MQ link, is created in the WebSphere Application Server Version 7.0 administrative console, the name of the underlying virtual link created contains ":" characters instead of "." characters.
This means that if a link is defined between a WebSphere Application Server Version 7.0 bus, and a WebSphere Application Server Version 6.1 or earlier bus, it fails to start.
The Version 7.0 side logs the correct name in the error, as it was sent the correct name by the Version 6.1 side:
CWSIP0041E: The link with name V7BUS.NAME:V61BUS.NAME was not found on messaging engine version7Node.server1-V7BUS.NAME.
The Version 6.1 side logs the incorrect name in the error, as it was sent the incorrect name by the Version 7.0 side:
CWSIP0041E: The link with name V7BUS:NAME:V61BUS:NAME was not found on messaging engine version61Node.server1-V61BUS.NAME.

PROBLEM SUMMARY
USERS AFFECTED:
Users of the default messaging provider for IBM WebSphere Application Server Version 7.0.
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Inter-bus links created between V6.0 and V7.0 buses with dots in their names fail to start with CWSIP0041E errors.
RECOMMENDATION:
None
The WebSphere Application Server Version 7.0 side of the inter-bus link (or WebSphere MQ link) is incorrectly created with colon (:) characters instead of dot (.) characters, in the virtual link name.
The Version 6.1 or earlier side of the link is created with the correct name, so the link fails to start with CWSIP0041E errors because the virtual link names on the two sides of the link differ. A colon should exist only to separate the two Bus names.
PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
The fix for this APAR corrects the administrative code of the bus to create inter-bus and WebSphere MQ links with the correct virtual link name. Links created before the fix for this APAR is applied are not fixed by applying the APAR.
The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in Fix Pack 7.0.0.7. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for delivery information:
