Problem

XOD-CON-0001 error when creating MSAS data source connection in Cognos Analytics. Getting following errors

Symptom

Microsoft Analysis Services 20XX (ODBO) / Compatible Failed QFS-ERR-0138 The data source 'MXX' is not supported by any provider. 

Microsoft Analysis Services 20XX (ODBO) / Dynamic Failed XOD-CON-0001 Failed to connect to OLE DB for the provider (Microsoft Analysis Services 20XX) and server. The data provider returned an error message: "CCLAssertError: CCL_ASSERT(NULL != m_pIDBInitialize);". 

Where XX can be 12,14 or 16 based on SQL Server version.

Resolving The Problem

Please note in Cognos Analytics ,Compatible connection to MSAS is not supported.

For Dynamic Connection, Ensure you have installed the correct Microsoft® Analysis Services OLE DB Provider for Microsoft® SQL Server® as per your SQL Server version.
