The report version is not supported when copying a report specification in Cognos Analytics

Troubleshooting


Problem

When trying to open a report when copying the report specification into a new report, this error message appears, and the report cannot be made.

Symptom

The report version http://developer.cognos.com/schemas/report/14.2 " is not supported. Expected report version "http://developer.cognos.com/schemas/report/14.0"

Cause

The copied report was made in an older version of Cognos, and is trying to be pasted into a new report in a newer version of Cognos.

For example, the report version that is being used is "14.2" which is Cognos Analytics 11.0.9, but Cognos was expecting a report spec built for "14.0" Which is Cognos Analytics 11.0.7

Resolving The Problem

When performing an "Open report from Clipboard" you must use the same version of Cognos that the report was made on that you're trying to paste into the new report.
