Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: User of RDz JES subsystem * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Customer has COBOL source with non- * * roundtrippable characters (< x'40') * * embedded in their compile/link JCL. * * From RDz Remote Systems view, customer * * will open job using SJ (Show Job) * * option but will not receive CRRZI0487E * * error. Customer is allowed to submit * * job with characters that were not * * translated properly. Client code page * * is CP1252, host code page is CP037. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** In SJ and job output, JMON replaces nonprinting control characters with blanks. For SJ, the user is allowed to resubmit the JCL and no warning is given that characters have been substituted.
Problem conclusion
JMON no longer replaces roundtrippable control characters. When characters that cannot roundtrip (hex 0D, 15, and 25) are present, a message is displayed, and submit is disabled.
