  * USERS AFFECTED: All QMF TSO/CICS V10 users.                  *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Reports' subtotals can be zero after    *
  *                      users migrate from QMF V9 to V10 even   *
  *                      when the same forms that generated      *
  *                      subtotals in V9 are used in V10.        *
  *                                                              *
  *                      If forms do not contain SUM usage       *
  *                      codes to generate subtotals,            *
  *                      and subtotals are instead generated     *
  *                      by indicating something like &SUM9_B    *
  *                      in a BREAK form, the subtotals          *
  *                      generated for each break display        *
  *                      zeroes.  If the form contains the SUM   *
  *                      usage code, valid subtotals are         *
  *                      generated.                              *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  A field that was checked to determine the length of a
  decimal number was determined to contain values other than
  a length, and, as a result, zeroes were generated for
  subtotal values that were not calculated via the SUM code
  path.
  

Problem conclusion

• Code was changed to check a column's data type rather than its
  value's length when determining which parameters to use when
  calculating subtotals for forms.
