What is the method of creating a hyperlink button to run a report in Cognos Analytics 11?
Answer
Steps to identify the original report’s URL and assign it to a hyperlink button in a new report are as follows:
Steps in the Cognos ‘Welcome’ dashboard:
1. In the Cognos ‘Welcome’ dashboard after logging in, locate the report whose URL and ID path you want to insert into the hyperlink button.
2. Against the identified report, click the ellipsis beside it and select ‘Run as’. Choose the HTML option and then click ‘Run’.
3. Copy the URL in your browser which contains the ID of the report.
a. Alternatively you can press the ellipses next to the report or package, and press the "Share" button which will generate the URL as well.
Steps in Report Authoring:
1. Return to the Cognos ‘Welcome’ dashboard and select the ‘New’ icon before clicking ‘Report’.
2. Choose any template before clicking ‘OK’.
3. Select the ‘Tools’ icon and under ‘Advanced’, click ‘Hyperlink button’.
4. Click ‘Properties’ and then under ‘URL Source’ select the ellipsis in the field.
5. Paste the URL that you copied in step 3 of ‘Steps in the Cognos ‘Welcome’ dashboard’ into the field before clicking ‘OK’.
6. Run the report and click on the hyperlink button to launch the other report.
