PDF Generation Performance in Distributed Environment with SSL

Troubleshooting


Problem

Only PDF generation is taking longer than all other full output formats. This is occuring in an environmnet with multiple dispatchers and ssl enabled. Note: Occurrs in 10.2.X and 11.0.X

Symptom

PDF creation is slower than other formats.

Cause

Timeout on attempting to locate the images used in PDFs. This can occur with manually inserted images by an end user or with images inserted by creating filters etc. Some images can be inserted by the product

Environment

Multi-server with SSL enabled

Resolving The Problem

There are two possible solutions to the problem. The images can be copied from the webserver to the report servers in the same path. That is, copy the contents of cognos\webcontent to the servers creating output.

Otherwise import certificates into the keystore to ensure the images are found.
