IBM Security Guardium STAP- COMMON module failed to upgrade while an upgrade to v10.1.2 was attempted on a Windows Environment

Troubleshooting


Problem

When upgrading GIM bundle to version 10.1.2 from v9.5 although GIM and WINSTAP are installed successfully, COMMON module shows up failed.

Symptom

When clicking on icon, COMMON bundle has a status of FAILED, however, GIM and WINSTAP shows up as "INSTALLED".

v10.1.2

Resolving The Problem

The COMMON module has no functionality, thus it is safe to ignore the "FAILED" status since it does not impact any future upgrades. Guardium v10.1.3 release will have COMMON module marked as a constant version so that it will never be included as a part of upgrade.

If you can't leave the status of COMMON module as "FAILED", a simple workaround is to do a "RESET CLIENT" from the GIM server for the GIM client in question.
