DOORS Web Access installer fails to start

Troubleshooting


Problem

Starting IBM Rational DOORS Web Access(DWA) installer from Command Prompt fails with "LaunchAnywhere Error: Windows error 2 occurred while loading the Java VM".

Symptom

If you double-click IBM_Rational_DOORS_Web_Access.exe, the install does not do anything without showing any errors.

Cause

InstallAnywhere 2015 used for DWA installer has a known issue with some ORACLE Java versions:

Diagnosing The Problem

Check Java version. The issue occurs with Java 8 Update 60 or later and also later versions of Java 7.

Resolving The Problem

Workaround:
Remove the directory path C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath from the value of the PATH evironment variable.

Note: Restarting OS may be required.
