Error description
<span>Concerns/Problem:<br/>When you open the iterator of an IBM Rational Integration Tester (RIT) test, you see that the value that you assigned to a column shifted up four rows.<br/><br/>As a consequence, the required value applies to another column. Possibly the test does not iterate at all.<br/><br/>If you have multiple test cases that use the same sheet and apply the same filter, the situation is inconvenient. Any new column addition changes your filters. Therefore all test cases fail, that use that particular data sheet and apply filters.<br/><br/><br/>STEPS TO REPRODUCE<br/>= Create an Excel data sheet with few columns.<br/>= Create an iterator in RIT and link the iterator to the Excel data<br/>sheet.<br/>= Put two filters in the "filter" tab of the iterator,<br/>Note the column name corresponding to a filter-field value.<br/>= Save the iterator and the test.<br/>= Add four new columns col1, col2, col3 and col4 to the Excel data sheet, just before the<br/>column in the Excel sheet.<br/>= Create four tags in the RIT test for the four new columns.<br/>= Open the iterator again, and click on the filter tab,<br/><br/>Now see that the value has moved up four rows. The column name corresponding to the filter-field name is now col1. <br/><br/>CONFIGURATION<br/>Rational Integration Tester v 5.3.11.1<br/>WinXP<br/><br/><br/>WORKAROUND<br/>Change the filter manually to point to the right values. <br/></span>

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * * All users of Rational Integration Tester * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * * Prior to version 8.5.1.1 the link between tag names and * * cells/fields in Test Data Iterator actions was by column * * number even though a name would be displayed in the RIT user * * interface (assuming there were column header names). This * * meant that if an iterator was set-up and used and a new * * column was added in-between two existing columns the * * iterator mappings would then be incorrect. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * * Upgrade to Rational Integration Tester 8.5.1.1 where the * * problem has been resolved. * ****************************************************************
Problem conclusion
This problem has been resolved in version 8.5.1.1 and Rational Integration Tester will now attempt to map by column name first (assuming headers are available). If it cannot find the name then it will revert to using column number.
