System requirements of Guardium S-TAP discovery feature

V10 UNIX S-TAP discovery feature is supported in the following operating systems, database types, and database versions.

OS: AIX, WPARS, Solaris, Solaris zone, HP-UX, Red Hat, Suse, Ubuntu, Linux for System z

Databases types: Oracle, DB2, Informix, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Sybase, Hadoop, Teradata, Netezza, MemSQL

Databases versions: All versions that are supported by S-TAP. See the following system requirements for details:
- System Requirements and Platforms supported for IBM Guardium 10.1.4
(Oracle 10g is no longer supported in Guardium v10.x.)

Limitations in 10.1.2 and earlier: Discovery does not work in the following situations.
1. Oracle DB with no listener
2. Informix DB in an environment where multiple instances exist on the same server and they all have the same user id
3. For Oracle, the database install directory comes from the Oracle process owner's home and the database executable file comes from the parsed ORACLE_HOME from the listener.ora, which might cause ATAP to fail
4. For Oracle RAC, when there is no running ora_pmon or ora_lreg process connected to a tnslsnr
5. Postgres on Solaris 11 with zones is not supported, due to zone configuration not allowing access from primary to secondary zones in some directories

Limitations in 10.1.3 and newer: At the time of writing of this document, discovery does not work in the following situations.
1. For Oracle RAC, when there is no running ora_pmon or ora_lreg process connected to a tnslsnr.
2. Postgres on Solaris 11 with zones is not supported, due to zone configuration not allowing access from primary to secondary zones in some directories.

Note: Discovery running as the Guardium user will not have the permissions to examine procfs, use lsof, use pfiles, or su to other users.
