Error description
In certain circumstances a UCM rebase operation causes the removal of a Foundation hyperlink. The Foundation hyperlink is always FROM a baseline TO a 'timeline'. There is a reference to the hyperlink in the 'Activity timeline' string of the timeline object, which gets removed when the timeline gets removed. However, when the baseline and the timeline exist in different UCM project VOBs, then while an oplog entry is generated for both project VOBs, the processing to remove the entry from the 'Activity timeline' string of the timeline object does not occur when the oplog entries are replayed. Steps to reproduce: Create a UCM stream based on a composite baseline with a multilevel hierarchy. Modify a component at the bottom level of the hierarchy and make baselines. Rebase, overriding the intermediate level root-less component with a composite baseline created in a project in a different project VOB At the same time, override this new foundation with the current foundation of the bottom level component that was modified. [trying to keep the use case simple] Make Baselines again. Rebase, removing all overrides. Synchronize all changes to another replica site. Attempt to mkreplica a third replica of the project VOB from this second site. The mkreplica fails with ... 120000 events dumped (thru Fri Jun 29 10:35:49 2012)... 121000 events dumped (thru Mon Jul 02 14:20:15 2012)... db_dumper.54: Error: Unexpected error from database library (8) in '/vobs/atria/lib/db/db__dump.c' line 2853 db_dumper.54: Error: Error from libdb (8) multitool: Error: Could not dump database. multitool: Error: Replica creation terminated prematurely due to error -- aborting. Workaround Once this 'db_dumper' error has occurred, a special database repair tool must be supplied by Rational Client Support.

Problem summary
When a rebase backward/sideways is done for a rootless component it causes the removal of a Foundation hyperlink. The Foundation hyperlink is always FROM a baseline TO the "timeline". There is a reference to the hyperlink in the "Activity timeline" string of the timeline object, which gets removed when the timeline gets removed. However, when the baseline and the timeline exist in different UCM project VOBs, then while an oplog entry is generated for both project VOBs, the processing to remove the entry from the "Activity timeline" string of the timeline object does not occur when the oplog entries are replayed.
Problem conclusion
A fix is available in ClearCase versions 7.1.2.8 and 8.0.0.4
