How to open IBM Rational Rhapsody .rpy file which is saved in path which contains a space.

Troubleshooting


Problem

You might have saved the Rhapsody project in a path which contains a space. For example: C:\temp\MyModels -1. Then while double click on the rpy file it does not open the project.

Cause

This is because you saved the project in a path which contains a space in it.

Environment

Microsoft Windows 7
IBM Rational Rhapsody 8.1.5

Resolving The Problem

As a work around, you should do a minor change in registry:

  1. Run regedit
  2. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\rpyFile\Shell\Open\command
  3. Change for example in my install from:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Rational\Rhapsody\8.1.5\Rhapsody.exe" %1
    to:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Rational\Rhapsody\8.1.5\Rhapsody.exe" -cmd=open "%1"
