Error description
When a data source that is defined under a User-defined JDBC provider is configured, and a queryTimeout custom property exists for the data source, the following exception is thrown after upgrading to Fix Pack 21 (V7.0.0.21) for WebSphere Application Server V7.0. The same problem may occur in Fix Pack 23 or later Fix Packs that are released without the fix for this APAR. The exception is thrown when the application does a JNDI lookup of the data source and the GenericDataStoreHelper class is being initialized: J2CA0036E: An exception occurred while invoking method setDataSourceProperties on com.ibm.ws.rsadapter.spi.WSManagedConnectionFactoryImpl used by resource jdbc/myDataSource : com.ibm.ws.exception.WsException: DSRA8054W: DataStoreHelper, 'com.ibm.websphere.rsadapter.GenericDataStoreHelper', constructor issued following exception: java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "". at java.lang.NumberFormatException.forInputString(NumberFormatExcep tion.java:48) at java.lang.Integer.parseInt(Integer.java:470) at java.lang.Integer.parseInt(Integer.java:499) at com.ibm.websphere.rsadapter.GenericDataStoreHelper.<init>(Generi cDataStoreHelper.java:264) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(NativeCons tructorAccessorImpl.java:44) at sun.reflect.DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(Delega tingConstructorAccessorImpl.java:27) at java.lang.reflect.Constructor.newInstance(Constructor.java:516) at com.ibm.ws.rsadapter.DSConfigurationHelper.createDataStoreHelper (DSConfigurationHelper.java:1517) at com.ibm.ws.rsadapter.spi.WSRdbDataSource.<init>(WSRdbDataSource. java:1251) at com.ibm.ws.rsadapter.spi.WSManagedConnectionFactoryImpl.setDataS ourceProperties(WSManagedConnectionFactoryImpl.java:2621) ... This appears to be related to APAR PM38864, which was included in V7.0.0.21, that allows a "webSphereDefaultQueryTimeout" property to be set on a data source to establish a default query timeout for statements that are created on connections that are obtained from the data source.
Local fix
Remove the queryTimeout custom property from the data source.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: With queryTimeout custom property set * * on the datasource , the JNDI lookup * * of the datasource fails. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The JNDI lookup fails with below exception: J2CA0036E: An exception occurred while invoking method setDataSourceProperties on com.ibm.ws.rsadapter.spi.WSManagedConnectionFactoryImpl used by resource jdbc/myDataSource : com.ibm.ws.exception.WsException: DSRA8054W: DataStoreHelper, 'com.ibm.websphere.rsadapter.GenericDataStoreHelper', constructor issued following exception: java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "". at java.lang.NumberFormatException.forInputString(NumberFormatExcep tion.java:48) at java.lang.Integer.parseInt(Integer.java:470) at java.lang.Integer.parseInt(Integer.java:499
Problem conclusion
The code changes are made to validate empty space when parsing the property queryTimeout. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 7.0.0.27, 8.0.0.6, and 8.5.0.2 Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for delivery information: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg27004980
