Error description
We maintain a list of 'waiters' in our WOLA registration (RGE) control block. The code in error is in bbgasrvq.plx, in Process_FreeWaiter, around line 1668. The code which removes elements from the waiter list is incorrect. It causes us to try to update storage off of location 0 when there are two elements in the waiter list, which results in an 0C4 abend in WebSphere. The CICS abend is cause by the TALENGTH for BBOATRUE, it is only 4096 in WAS v7. In WAS v8 it was increased to 8192 when we shipped BBOATRUX, but this was not changed when BBOATRUX was rolled back to v7.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Optimized Local * * Adapters (WOLA) on IBM WebSphere * * Application Server for z/OS V7.0, V8.8, * * and V8.5 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An ABEND0C4/ABENDS0C4 occurs in the * * WebSphere Application Server for z/OS * * controller region when processing * * OLA requests. When communicating with * * CICS Transaction Server, a CICS task * * may take a CICS AKEB abend. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When processing concurrent OLA requests from a WebSphere Application Server for z/OS server instance to a CICS Transaction Server instance, the WebSphere OLA Task Related User Exit (TRUE) may write over the end of its local work area (UEPTAL). This results in CICS taking an AKEB abend. The resulting recovery code which runs in the WebSphere Application Server for z/OS controller region may result in the controller region taking an ABEND0C4/ABENDS0C4 while removing the failed request from a data structure. The ABEND0C4 may occur when communicating with external address spaces other than CICS Transaction Server.
Problem conclusion
Code was added to correct the size of the allocated local work area in the WebSphere OLA Task Related User Exit (TRUE), and to correctly remove requests from the request queue. APAR PM66458 is currently targeted for inclusion in WebSphere Application Server Fix Packs 7.0.0.25, 8.0.0.5, and 8.5.0.1.
