DB2 server IP address change

Question & Answer

Question

When an IP address hosting the DB2 database server is changed, what steps are required to be performed on the database server from DB2 perspective?

Answer

The following should be reviewed when changing the TCP/IP address of
the computer that hosts the DB2 database:

1. ../sqllib/db2nodes.cfg

It is possible (although not suggested) that this file could
use the IP address instead of the host name. The file should be
checked for validity.

2. Validate the catalog node entries

The node entry points to the address of the database. Check all
clients and the server to make sure that the node entries for databases
on the server are still valid. Node entries can use either the
DNS name or TCP/IP address of a computer. Use this command to review
the nodes information:

db2 list node directory show detail

3. Check the /etc/hosts file

Validate that the /etc/hosts file is correct on the server.
