Is to possible to move Rational DOORS database server when using the DOORS HP Quality Center Integration?

Troubleshooting

Problem

How to update the connection on QCI once the DOORS DB server is moved or migrated to a different server.

Resolving The Problem

Once the DOORS DB server is moved, you can modify the data connection for DOORS in the Administration Tool. It mentions that it might invalidate mappings or tasks. In our test it did not and we were able to sync. It does delete and re-created requirements in the same "branch" of HP ALM.

Another solution is to modify the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file to have the hostname of the existing\old DOORS server point to the IP address of the new DOORS server, but please note that the old server might have to be turned off for this. Once this was done we didn't have to modify anything in QCI. We did a sync and it added only new data. It did not delete and re-create all data.
