Error description
When installing ClearCase 7.1.2.4 with IBM Rational Change Management (CM) Server installed on zSeries SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10, the installation process will fail with the following error and roll back by uninstalling process. ADMU0116I: Tool information is being logged in file /opt/IBM/RationalSDLC/common/CM/profiles/cmprofile/logs/server1/ startServer.log startServer.log ADMU0128I: Starting tool with the cmprofile profile ADMU3100I: Reading configuration for server: server1 ADMU3028I: Conflict detected on port 12880. Likely causes: a) An instance of the server server1 is already running b) some other process is using port 12880 ADMU3027E: An instance of the server may already be running: server1 ADMU0111E: Program exiting with error: com.ibm.websphere.management.exception.AdminException: ADMU3027E: An instance of the server may already be running: server1 ADMU1211I: To obtain a full trace of the failure, use the -trace option. ADMU0211I: Error details may be seen in the file: /opt/IBM/RationalSDLC/common/CM/profiles/cmprofile/logs/server1/ startServer.log This is due to the IBM WebSphere Application Server process not successfully stopping during the installation process. 2. WORKAROUND 1) Create a '/var/ibm/InstallationManager/logs/log.properties' file and use the following options: com.ibm.cic.agent.core.Engine=DEBUG com.ibm.cic.agent.core.Agent=DEBUG com.ibm.cic.agent.core.StartupManager=DEBUG InstallOrderManager=DEBUG InstallOperation=DEBUG InstallOperation/pause.before=post_install_configure:ratl.CMServ er.linux_390..ratl.CMServer.cache.cleanup.iu.linux_390:exec 2) Start installation as normal and wait for it to pause. Once install pauses, run the following command and wait for the server process to stop: /opt/rational/common/CM/profiles/cmprofile/bin/stopServer.sh server1 3) Then allow the install process to continue.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** During the install of ClearCase on zlinux plaform, the IM Installer will try to start the CM Server twice, thus the associated ports will be in use and the second attempt will fail the operation with the reported error.
Problem conclusion
Added the correct functions for the platform so it behaves like the other supported platforms, that is, stop the server first, if needed, to be able to perform the cache cleanup operation.
