Question & Answer

Question

scvs -a shows legacy_run S99upguard on my DBServer - what is this from a Guardium perspective ?

Cause

This has been seen on some Solaris environments - for example here we grep for guardium services on this Solaris environment

    $ svcs -a | grep -i guard
    legacy_run     Apr_16   lrc:/etc/rc3_d/S99upguard
    online         Jun_12   svc:/site/guard_gsvr:default
    online         Jun_12   svc:/site/guard_gim:default

Answer

S99upguard is a GIM run level script that has 2 major roles:

1. Telling the Guardium Supervisor to start up modules (e.g. STAP) when it's starting up.
2. completing boot-time installation of GIM bundles in cases where a non-live GIM upgrade is specified.

The legacy_run indicates a service that has since been upgraded using later Guardium services

No action is needed with respect to the Guardium services.
