Error description
Rational Developer for system z Remote syntax check error message IBM2805I that includes aphostrophe is not displayed When executing remote syntax check for source.pli, error message for IBM2805I that includes apostrophe is not displayed on remote error list view. The customer uses codepage half-width kana, and set host code page in MVS Files properties to IBM-1390 for PL/I source code. Below error message is not displayed. (The error message includes apostrophe.) IBM2805I I 6.0 FOR ASSIGNMENT TO MY_VAR_P, CONVERSION FROM CHARACTER TO PIC'(1)9' WILL BE DONE BY LIBRARY CALL. The apostrophe is written as ?apos in error feedback XML file. So this happens because the apostrophe is garbled during encoding conversion. If the customer sets File System Mapping to IBM-1399 then the error message is displayed properly but the customer can't use IBM-1399 since they use IBM-1390 for the source code files.
Local fix
Problem summary
The entity expression for apostrophe was lower alphabet in the host, but the entity was modified to invalid non-alphabet characters in downloaded xml since the host codepage in downloading mapped non-alphabet characters for the code points for lower alphabets in IBM-037.
Problem conclusion
The client was fixed to convert invalid XML entity expression of downloading codepage to lower alphabets of IBM-037 before processing the result XML. The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with IBM Rational Developer for System z V9.0.1 Refresh Pack which is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=2294&uid=swg27006335
