Control Center Cognos (Lucene) service is unable start.

Troubleshooting


Problem

After upgrading from IBM Control Center v6.0.0.0 to v6.0.0.1, ifix03,

Symptom

ERROR [
com.cognos.pogo.config.HandlerFactory] Thread-24: cannot instantiate
handler class com.cognos.search.p2pd.CSNIndexDataServiceHandler,
substituted Noophandler com.cognos.pogo.pdk.PogoException: Failed to
start the "IBM Cognos Enhanced Search" Services because your Lucene
version is not compatible with this version of "IBM Cognos Enhanced
Search". You need at least 3.1.0
at
com.cognos.search.p2pd.CSNIndexDataServiceHandler.<init>(CSNIndexDataSer
viceHandler.java:76)

Cause

Older version of lucene-core-2.4.1.jar instead of the lucene-core-3.1.0.jar in the Cognos/webapps/p2pd/WEB-INF/lib

Diagnosing The Problem

Check and see what version of the lucene-core jar file is installed, for this version of Cognos.

Resolving The Problem

Rename or remove the directory that contains an older version of the lucene-core jar file.
Cognos/webapps/p2pd/WEB-INF/lib

Perform an in place install of Control Center again to add the correct files.
