Cannot edit a crosstab in Cognos Analysis for Microsoft Excel

Problem

With earlier versions of Microsoft Excel 2013, when you create a crosstab or list with User Columns in Cognos Analysis for Microsoft Excel, you cannot edit subsequent crosstabs, lists, or flex views created in Excel. NOTE: IBM Cognos Analysis for Microsoft Excel 10.3 is currently available only as part of the IBM Planning Analytics release on the cloud. We recommend that you do not use the 10.3 documentation with previous versions of Cognos Analysis for Microsoft Excel.

Diagnosing The Problem

This is a known Microsoft Excel 2013 issue.

Resolving The Problem

To permanently resolve this issue, install the latest version of Microsoft Excel 2013.

To resolve this issue in your current session, follow these steps:

  1. Type a value in a cell, but do not press the Enter key.
  2. Click in another cell.
    The value you entered appears in the original cell.
