Error description
Abstract: Attempts to install IBM Rational Application Developer version 8.x and IBM WebSphere Application Server version 8.x at the same time prevents you from choosing a new package group if one already exists. Problem: Starting with IBM Rational Application Developer v8.0, you do not need to use IBM WebSphere Application Server Test Environment extension any more. Instead, you can use Installation Manager to install a stand-alone copy of WebSphere Application Server. When installing both of these product together you can only install into default package group. Steps to reproduce 1. Install a Software Delivery Platform product such as IBM Rational Developer for Power Systems 8.5.1 or any other 3.6.2.x Eclipse based compatible product. 2. Try to install another product, such as Rational Application Developer, at the same time as a 8.x version of WebSphere Application Server. Result: You do not have the option to select a new package group for the installation of Rational Application Developer and IBM Installation Manager will automatically pick the package group of the existing compatible product (for example the one for Rational Developer for Power Systems 8.5.1). The documentation should outline this scenaio better. Local fix: If you need more flexibility and be able to choose a new package group then you need to install the products separately.
