    ONCODE150 in ADB2REE.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • USERS AFFECTED: Users of the DB2 Administration Tool for
z/OS who use the Generate (GEN DDL, and
Migrate (MIG commands to generate DDL for
a view that has embedded SQL comments.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The GEN and DDL commands did not
                           support generating SQL comments within
a view. The MIG command did not
                           support generating embedded SQL
comments for a view when extracting
                           DDL.

      RECOMMENDATION:

The GEN and DDL commands generated a view but without the
embedded SQL comments even though the SQL comments exist in
the view text stored in DB2. The MIG command did not support
generating embedded SQL comments for a view when extracting
    DDL.

Problem conclusion

  • A new GEN and MIG option 'Include SQL comments' has been
added to give the user control of whether a view is generated
with or without embedded SQL comments on panels ADB2GEN
'Generate SQL from DB2 catalog' and ADB28M 'Migrate
Parameters'. The default is the existing behavior which is
not to generate the SQL comments.

These new options are only available when GEN or MIG are run
in Batch and no Work Statement List (WSL , and the DDL output
is designed to be run in SPUFI or DSNTEP4. The DB2
Administration Tool for z/OS Batch Restart Program ADBTEP2
can also be used to run the DDL if the following option is
manually added to the ADBTEPIN DD statement:

      SQLFORMAT = 'SQLCOMNT'

The SADBSAMP(ADBTEP2R sample job can be used to construct a
    job to run ADBTEP2.
