Filtering Work Orders by a tool used in the work

Question & Answer

Question

Is it possible to allow users to be able to filter Work Orders in which the work had involved the usage of a particular tool.

Cause

The usage of tools is recorded in the Work Order Tracking, Actuals Tab.

Answer

Yes, you can add a field to the Advanced Search Tab in the Workorder Tracking application to find all tools actually used.

Here are the steps:

The field we want to query is ITEMNUM in the TOOLTRANS table.

1. Go to Application Designer, WOTRACK application, export the
wotrack.xml and save to your local drive as a backup.

2. Launch the Application Designer and select the WOTRACK application.

The More Search Fields dialog is available for editing by clicking the
“Edit Dialogs” button in the toolbar

and then clicking the “searchmore” entry:

3. Click on the Control Properties Icon in the toolbar, then drag the textbox control as shown, name it "Tools Used":

4. Right Click on the New Textbox you just created and select “Properties”.

The textbox properties dialog will open – set the values as follows:

Label: Tools Used (or whatever you prefer)
Attribute: TOOLTRANS.ITEMNUM
Lookup: TOOLS
Go To Applications: TOOL.
Input Mode: Query
Menu Type: Normal
