Question & Answer
Question
What is the difference between reserveAvailbleInventory API and scheduleorder API in IBM Sterling Order Management?
Cause
At times during reservation, inventory gets reserved at multiple stores instead of single store where as scheduleOrder API schedules at a single store based on the sourcing rules.
The flag - "A line can be fulfilled from a single node only" is checked which is considered by scheduleOrder API
Answer
Steps to Configure:
- Optimize on Cost, Number of Shipments is set in Scheduling Rules.
- Check the option A line can be fulfilled from a single node only in Application Manager-Distributed Order Management-Document specific-Sales Order-Fulfillment rules.
- Distance/mile based sourcing enabled:
Store 1 and store 2 at a distance of 200 miles from a buyer A
Store 3 at a distance of 600 miles from the same buyer A
Sequence 1 of the sourcing rule says- consider store at a distance less than 500 miles
Sequence 2 of the sourcing rule says-consider store at a distance less than 1000 miles
10 quantity of an item available at each of the stores (Store 1 and Store 2 ) and 20 quantity of item available at the node Store 3
Now, If you run resereveAvailableInventory for 20 quantity it reserves the quantity at the stores Store 1 and store 2 which have 10 quantity of the item each,
If you schedule an order it schedules the inventory at store 3 which has 20 quantity available
The difference in the behavior of reserveAvailableInventory API and scheduleOrder API is due to the following configurations:
- To get reserveavailableInventory to work as scheduleOrder API, you will need to check Line Ship From Single Node in scheduling rule configuration.
- For scheduleOrder API to act like reserveAvailableInventory API you need to uncheck A line can be fulfilled from a single node only.
