Error description
Japanese characters are not imported correctly when you import RIF package using IBM Rational DOORS. This problem happens in both RIF and ReqIF formats). Behavior observed: ----------------------- RIF 1.2 format Object heading - Japanese characters are displayed correctly Object text - Japanese characters are corrupted ReqIF 1.0 format Object heading - shows RTF format Object text - Japanese characters are corrupted Work around: ---------------- This behavior is not seen in DOORS 9.4.0.1 Client. Hence, we can use Rational DOORS 9.4.0.1 to import the RIF or ReqIF files.

So this had an impact on unicode characters (e.g. Japanese).
Problem conclusion
In the code set hasFormatting to "true" if the RTF encoding of a character is used.
