PM78633: SOME CHARACTERS ARE REPLACED BY THE REPLACEMENT CHARACTER IN UNLOAD

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The output field for SBCS CHAR or VARCHAR data (encoded in
  EBCDIC or ASCII) unloaded in UNICODE is incorrect.
  Some characters are replaced by the replacement character.
  
  This occurs because the target output field is encoded in the
  UNICODE SBCS CCSID which is not valid.
  The output should be encoded in the MIXED CCSID instead.
  
  We see the unexpected substitution character x'1A' or x'1B'
  
  AI BE AWARE the following HOLD ACTION was missing from the PTFS.
  
  * HPU v4.1 PTF UK93298 should include following HOLD ACTIONS:
    Run INZT01.
    Add the TRUE_UNICODE specification to ULOPTNS and change the
    settings of VUU067/ULCNVTRC and VUU068/ULUNIEXP if necessary.
    Run INZT02.
  
  * HPU v4.2 PTF UK93299 should include following HOLD ACTIONS:
    Add the TRUE_UNICODE specification to ULOPTNS
    and change the settings of VUU067/ULCNVTRC and
    VUU068/ULUNIEXP if necessary.
    Generate the customization jobs and run the jobs associated
    to the INZTVAR template.

• Request the CHAR/VARCHAR data be unloaded with the mixed unicode
  CCSID (e.g. specify UNICODE CCSID (1208)).
