QRadar: How to change the IMM or XCC default username and\or password

Troubleshooting

Problem

The administrator would like to know how to change the default username and password for the Integrated Management Module's (IMM) or the XClarity Controller (XCC).

Symptom

The client is unable to log in to the IMM or for another reason needs to change the default User and Password for the Integrated Management Module's (IMM) or the XClarity Controller (XCC).
When attempting to log in to the IMM web UI, users might see a message similar to:

Error: Login failed. Verify that your username and password are correct

Environment

Software:
QRadar v7.x
Hardware:
IBM/Lenovo System x M3/M4/M5 (IMM)
Lenovo ThinkSystem M6 (XCC)

Resolving The Problem

An IMM or XCC allows up to twelve users. Slot #1 refers to the first user out of twelve. By default, the IMM, or XCC username and password are USERID\PASSW0RD (where 0 is a zero and not the letter o). The default USERID account for the IMM and XCC operates the slot #1 position in the list of users. The IMM can be updated with the Advanced Settings Utility (ASU) and the XCC can be updated with the OneCLI tool. Administrators for security need to change the default username and password.
Note: The asu64 or onecli command might take a few minutes to locate a path to communicate with the IMM.
  1. To change the slot#1 position username, you can run the following command:
    IMM: /opt/lenovo/toolscenter/asu/asu64 set IMM.LoginId.1 [new_username] --kcs
    XCC: /opt/lenovo/lnvgy-utl-lxce-onecli/onecli config set IMM.LoginId.1 [new_username]
  2. To change the password for the slot #1 position user, you can run the following command:
    IMM: /opt/lenovo/toolscenter/asu/asu64 set IMM.Password.1 [new_password] --kcs
    XCC: /opt/lenovo/lnvgy-utl-lxce-onecli/onecli config set IMM.Password.1 [new_password]
  3. Users can verify the Login IDs by using the command:
    IMM: /opt/lenovo/toolscenter/asu/asu64 show --kcs | grep -i IMM.LoginId
    XCC: /opt/lenovo/lnvgy-utl-lxce-onecli/onecli config showvalues | grep -i IMM.LoginId

    IMM.LoginId.1=USERID
    IMM.LoginId.10=
    IMM.LoginId.11=
    IMM.LoginId.12=
    IMM.LoginId.2=Admin
    IMM.LoginId.3=example_user
    IMM.LoginId.4=
    IMM.LoginId.5=
    IMM.LoginId.6=
    IMM.LoginId.7=
    IMM.LoginId.8=
    IMM.LoginId.9=

    Results
    After the ASU set command or OneCli tool returns successful, example_user is able to log in to the IMM by using the password they set.

For more information, administrators can review the official documentation for the IMM and ASU for the M3/M4/M5 appliances. They can use the XCC and OneCLI utility for the M6 appliances.
