Configuring Safety stock at ShipNode Level in Sterling Order Management

Question & Answer

Question

How do you configure different safety stock value for an item in IBM Sterling Order Management (OMS)?

Cause

Safety stock is set at item level and you want to have a different safety stock value based on ship node.

Answer

Sterling OMS enables you to define an inventory availability safety factor that indicates what percentage of current or future inventory should be excluded during order promising.
There is no way to configure safety stock value based on ship node but you can use item and ship node combination to define safety stock.

Steps to configure:

  1. Set the safety factor for an item at 5% in Node 1 and 20% in Node2.

  2. To configure this for item node combination, navigate to Application management-Catalog management-Product-Node item attribute.

  3. Refer Creating item attribute overrides at the node level for configuration steps.
