    - in the middle of a data xfer (txt) a lot of XTRA x'40' are
      added.
    - data is shifted which makes the JES job unreadable.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of MVS TCP/IP V3R1 C-FTP server.   *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: C-FTP transfer of data between UNIX *
    * workstation and MVS server using *
    *                      FILETYPE=JES results in extra x'40's.   *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When a JCL file is moved from UNIX to MVS via C-FTP and using
    FILETYPE=JES, the file contents are shifted. The problem
    occurs intermittently and not at all when the C-FTP trace is
    active or if the FILETYPE=SEQ. The extra blanks (x'40's) are
    added to the front of the record as well as anywhere in the
    record; where the blanks occur is random.

Problem conclusion

  • This is a timing related problem in module EZAFTSMJ. The logic
    had an exposure that resulted in the symptoms reported. The
    change was made to JesWrtStream to gather any tiny buffers into
    a large buffer to contain at least one entire record, 254 bytes,
    during binary data transfer.
