Question

Which IBM Z Development and Test Environment e-assemblies you need to download from Passport Advantage?

Cause

Entitled clients can download IBM Z Development and Test Environment from Passport Advantage. However, when you review media pack search results, it might be difficult to recognize which e-assemblies represent the core product IBM Z Development and Test Environment and which extra e-assemblies are required or optional based on your intended use of the product.

For instructions on downloading IBM Z Development and Test Environment from Passport Advantage, select the following tab that corresponds to the version that you purchased.

If you are entitled to IBM Z Development and Test Environment V13.3.0 and you want to download your software from Passport Advantage, complete the following steps.

  1. Log on to Passport Advantage.
  2. Select Software Downloads and Media Access.
  3. Select Program offering and agreement number, and click Continue.
  4. Enter the part description or part number, and click Finder.
  5. Optionally, you can click the alphabetical order list to display and view the product by name.
  6. Select All Operating Systems in the Operating system field, and All Languages in the Languages field. Then, click Go.
  7. If you want to download the individual media from the list, click Select individual files to expand the list.

To obtain an update file, you need to know the serial number of the USB hardware device you plan to use. For information on obtaining an update file and activating the USB hardware device, see the IBM Rational Development and Test Environment for System z 9.1 Activation Guide (SC27-6630-00).

If you are entitled to IBM Rational Development and Test Environment for System z 9.0 and you want to download your software from Passport Advantage, perform the following steps:

  1. Log on to Passport Advantage.
  2. Select Software Downloads and Media Access.
  3. Select the Download Finder.
  4. Select Find by description or part number.
  5. Select the Product Description and All radio buttons and enter Rational Development in the description field.
  6. Select Continue.
  7. Expand the eAssemblies and you can see your entitled software.
  8. For Rational Development and Test Environment for System z 9.0,
    • If you are entitled to IBM Rational Development and Test Environment for System z, download:
      • IBM Rational Development and Test Environment for System z 9.0 with z/OS V1.13 e- Assembly (CRN0VML)
    • If you are entitled to IBM Rational Development and Test Environment for System z with Parallel Sysplex, download:
      • IBM Rational Development and Test Environment for System z 9.0 with z/OS V1.13 e- Assembly (CRN0VML)
      • IBM Rational Development and Test Environment for System z with Parallel Sysplex 9.0 e- Assembly (CRN0WML)

Important: In addition to downloading the product software, you also have to download a critical fix for the ADCD z/OS Distribution supplied with Rational Development and Test Environment for System z 9.0. The problem that this fix addresses causes the Unicode Services conversion information service on all z/OS releases starting with z/OS 1.10 to return an incorrect return code on systems IPLed on or after December 15, 2015.

This failure will affect many system services and applications such as (but not limited to) Telnet, System Automation, BCPii, ICONV sample job EDCICONV, FTP / SFTP, and Java / WebSphere. The full text of the problem can be found at the following URL:
