Error description
---------- Situation: ---------- Apply a USERMOD that has JCLIN. Apply a PTF that has JCLIN. Then attempt to RESTORE the USERMOD. Message GIM41101E will occur if: Both sets of JCLIN effect the same MOD/LMOD, The two SYSMODs do not have any elements in common (otherwise a PRE condition would have been forced). (msgGIM41101E: SMP/E DID NOT RESTORE MOD/LMOD ENTRY name FOR SYSMOD usermod BECAUSE MOD/LMOD name WAS CHANGED BY the_ptf.) ----- Need: ----- To work-around message GIM41101E from a RESTORE, several steps need to be performed. --------- Solution: --------- The best (and cleanest) choice would be to also RESTORE the maintenance along with the USERMOD. This cannot be done if "the_ptf" has been ACCEPTed. Therefore, do the following: 1) Run UCLIN to change the LASTUPD field of the MOD/LMOD to be the USERMOD. UCLIN . REP MOD/LMOD(name) LASTUPD(usermod). ENDUCL . 2) Run the RESTORE. 3) Do one of the following: A) Re-apply the PTF that was mentioned in the message. APPLY S(the_ptf) REDO . Depending on how much maintenance has been applied since the PTF was first installed, you may need to re-APPLY many other SYSMODs. APPLY S(the_ptf,ptf2,...) REDO . B) Extract the JCLIN from the PTF, put it in an SMPJCLIN DD and run the JCLIN cmd. This would update the MOD/LMOD entries with all the correct changes. Never do the following: Run UCLIN to put the LASTUPD field back to the PTF mentioned in the message. 4) Re-apply your USERMOD if desired. Additional Symptoms: GIM41101E MSGGIM41101 GIM41101
