ATAP and OS account problem

Troubleshooting


Problem

customer needed to start ATAP on Unix server without having to stop all database instances

Symptom

customer receives the following message after issuing the guardctl activate command : /dbss/ora2027/u00/guardium/bin/guardctl
db_instance=dncms0_1 activate
Matching module found - oracle is supported by
/dbss/ora2027/u00/guardium/lib64/libguard-atap-oracle-any
ERROR: Database instance is running, please stop it first
eagnmncom0836:/usr/local #

Cause

running that activate command on a server with multiple database instances

Environment

all UNIX/Linux servers

Diagnosing The Problem

run the command ps -ef | grep tns and check for multiple database instances

Resolving The Problem

have the customer use the command guardctl --force-action=yes to stop only the database instance that is required for ATAP
