Troubleshooting
Problem
During run of configCC.sh you get asked for settings for Cognos. When you skip this part you run into errors and configCC.sh stops. You can not start Sterling Control Center
Symptom
configCC.sh stops
On the screen you see:
You entered the following :
Cognos database hostname = n
Cognos database port = 41003
Cognos DB name (SID) = h
Cognos database userid = n
Cognos database password = ********
Cognos dispatcher port = 1
Is this correct(Y/N)?[Y]y
java.lang.RuntimeException: Problem in encrypting Cognos configuration,
check log/CCInstall.log.
Cause
You can not run Sterling Control Center without configuring Cognos.
Resolving The Problem
When Cognos is configured with configCC, the user specified values are put into a Cognos xml file and Cognos is called to validate and encrypt the configuration file.
In validating the specifications, it does check to make sure that the hostname specified in the configCC and email settings can be reached.
You must configure Cognos enough that the building of the Cognos configuration passes its validation and encryption.
Once configCC has been run successfully, there is no requirement that Cognos even be running except that you can't use any
of the reporting capabilities in Sterling Control Center
If you do not want Cognos to run,
change the
cogconfigSCC.sh/bat file
from the
SCC/Cognos/bin and SCC/Cognos/bin64
folders to do nothing and just return.
