Launching Rational Rhapsody with dongle license keys results in "Flexnet error -9,57 invalid host" error

Problem

Attempts to launch IBM Rational Rhapsody 8.0.3 with dongle license keys results in the error "Flexnet error -9,57 invalid host".

Symptom

The error message pops up when you are launching Rational Rhapsody 8.0.3.

The full error message:

License Error : Invalid Host.

The hostid of this system does not match the hostid specified in the license file,

Feature:       dev_ed

Hostid:         FLEXID=123456789

License path: C:\IBM\license.dat;

FLEXnet Licensing error:-9,57

Note: The same error message also appears when there is a real conflict with dongle ID or dongle driver. In this case, the dongle ID and dongle driver software is installed correctly and working with other Rational Rhapsody versions.

Cause

This issue was identified as a product defect in Rational Rhapsody 8.0.3.

Resolving The Problem

The defect has been resolved in Rational Rhapsody Fix Pack 8.0.4

WORKAROUND:

Use one of the following types of license keys:

  • node locked (IBM Rational Rhapsody AUTH USER LIC)

    or
  • floating (IBM Rational Rhapsody FLOATING LIC)
