Troubleshooting
Problem
This document describes the default location of the core dump file produced by an abnormal termination of a Tivoli Storage Manager running on AIX, and how to redirect the core file to an alternate location.
Resolving The Problem
A Tivoli Storage Manager server that abnormally terminates produces a core dump file in the following locations.
- Tivoli Storage Manager and Spectrum Protect servers.
The core file is written in the instance directory. For example :
/home/tsminst1/core
The path to the core file will be recorded in a CORE_DUMP entry in the AIX errpt log. For example:
LABEL: CORE_DUMP
IDENTIFIER: A924A5FC
Date/Time: ...
...
CORE FILE NAME
/usr/tivoli/tsm/server/bin/core
To redirected the core file to a different location, use a symbolic link.
ln -s {new path/core} {old path/core}
For example :
ln -s /largefs/core /usr/tivoli/tsm/server/bin/core
In this example the core file would be written to
/largefs/core
instead of /usr/tivoli/tsm/server/bin/core
.
