Troubleshooting
Problem
WebSphere Application Server (WAS) Messaging Engine (ME) does not start. Exception: CWSIS1524E, specified data source not found.
Symptom
You see the following errors in the SystemOut.log:
CWSIS0002E: The messaging engine encountered an exception while starting. Exception:
com.ibm.ws.sib.msgstore.MessageStoreRuntimeException: CWSIS1524E: Data source, <datasource_name>, not found.
CWSID0035E: Messaging engine <messaging_engine_name> cannot be
started; detected error reported during com.ibm.ws.sib.msgstore.impl.MessageStoreImpl start()
CWSID0027E: Messaging engine <messaging_engine_name> cannot be restarted
Cause
The messaging engine cannot find the data source that it needs to access its data store.
Resolving The Problem
Please make sure that the configured data source for the Messaging Engine is correct and valid. Please refer to the links below for instructions on how to configure a data source and how to configure a messaging engine data store to use a data source. You can cross check the data source configuration as mentioned below.
In the WAS Admin Console navigate to:
Resources > JDBC > Data sources > YOUR_DATA_SOURCE NAME
Inside the data source configuration (click on the data source name) you will see a "Name", which is just
the administrative name for this object, and the "JNDI name", which is the name it is stored under in JNDI. Make a note of the JNDI name.
Now go to the message store configuration for the messaging engine:
Service Integration > Buses > <BUS_NAME> > Messaging Engines > MESSAGING_ENGINE NAME > Message Store
Here you should see the "JNDI data source name". This should match the "JNDI name" in the data source configuration you looked at above. If it does not match then this would explain the error you are getting. Make sure the JNDI names match and make sure you are using the correct data source.
