IBM Support

Member of a group might receive a warning when updating WebSphere Application Server Version 8.5.0.0 on a group-mode installation

Troubleshooting

Problem

If Installation Manager is installed in group mode and a member of the primary group other than the original installer updates WebSphere Application Server Version 8.5.0.0 directly to any fix-pack level, the update might result in a warning similar to the following: []com.ibm.was.backup.nsf.v85.RestoreNSF tar: systemApps/WebSphereWSDM.ear/WebSphereWSDM.war/WEB-INF/lib: Cannot utime: Operation not permitted tar: systemApps/WebSphereWSDM.ear/WebSphereWSDM.war/WEB-INF: Cannot utime: Operation not permitted tar: systemApps/WebSphereWSDM.ear/WebSphereWSDM.war: Cannot utime: Operation not permitted tar: systemApps/WebSphereWSDM.ear: Cannot utime: Operation not permitted tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors[]

Resolving The Problem

You can ignore this warning. The update should be successful.

To avoid the warning, use the original installer to update WebSphere Application Server Version 8.5.0.0 to WebSphere Application Server Version 8.5.0.1. Other members of the primary group should be able to perform subsequent updates without receiving the warning.
