How do you set an Environment variable to reference the IBM Rational Rhapsody installation directory?

The purpose of setting an environment variable to the Rhapsody installation directory is to reference the files within the directory from the Rational Rhapsody Graphical Interface
Answer
You can define an environment variable to reference the Rational Rhapsody installation directory in the rhapsody.ini file. This variable can then be referenced from the Rhapsody graphical interface.
Apply the steps below to achieve the same:
- Navigate to Rational Rhapsody installation directory and locate the rhapsody.ini file
Notes:
For Windows XP, the rhapsody.ini file can be found in the locationC:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\Rhapsody\7.x\
For Windows 7 and Windows Vista, the rhapsody.ini file can be found in the Users directory in the locationC:\Users\..\IBM\Rational\Rhapsody\7.x\
- Open the rhapsody.ini file in edit mode and define your environment variable in the General section of the file

APPLICATION_ROOT=C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Rational\Rhapsody\7.6.1
- Save the changes and exit
Note: The variable can be put into use by launching Rhapsody and referencing it by $APPLICATION_ROOT
